Maui Sands Resort was one of the first resorts built on the west side of Maui. It epitomizes the wonderful old school feeling of Hawaii, when the islands were still fairly new to air travel, and a trip to Hawaii was the trip of a lifetime! This is a low-density property. On just over 4 acres there are 52 in traditional 2-story buildings with a park-like setting. There are three volcanic reefs that run parallel to the shoreline. During low tide, the inner area, between the seawall and the first reef is perfectly protected for keiki (children) to play in the water and build sand castles. Maui Sands has beautiful mature tropical garden.On the grounds there is a large sparkling pool featuring a cabana and BBQ with ample seating for a poolside picnic! Additional BBQ’s are also located on the grounds. The entry to the shore from the steps is centered mid-property and offers a wonderful common area to catch some sun above the shore with a magnificent view of the island of Molokai across the channel. We love watching the whales from here the season and turtles all year round. Maui boasts a whale season from the latter part of November to mid April every year when the whales return to breed and give birth.
In the heart of Honokowai, Maui Sands is close to delicious take-out and dine-in restaurants, as well as shopping, grocery stores, and the award-winning Farmer’s Market. A short 3 minute walk to the north brings you to Honokowai Beach Park, with a playground, and a sandy stretch of beach. To the south is the Honolua Kai Park and a fabulous beach walk going all the way to Whalers Village and Black Rock.

This one bedroom unit is perfect to snorkel, paddle board and kayak right off the shoreline! It resides within the Kahekili Marine Reserve on the Au’au channel one of 3 conservation zones on the island of Maui. The seawall and ocean shore is literally 30 steps from your front door!
Maui Sands – 3H
This unit is a two bedroom spacious 800sf condo, with a large lanai running the length of the unit, and a full kitchen, that sleeps 6. The super spacious lanai runs the length of the unit, with lounge chairs for relaxing and a table and chairs for al fresco dining with both ocean and garden views.
Maui Sands – 4G
If you dream of sleeping on a tropical beach, a world apart from your everyday life, you will love staying here. This condo is literally right on the ocean and we have fondly named it “Turtle Haven” because we see them every day from the lanai.
Maui Sands – 5A
This large two bedroom one and a half bath unit sleeps up to 6 people. This is a unit that sees guests coming back for a second, third stay and more! The distance from the sliding door to the ocean is 15’. It’s as close as you will find to the shore any where on Maui!
Maui Sands – 5B
You can’t get accommodations any closer than this to the water! We call this condo Makani Olu’olu, Fair Wind. When walking into this condo the 1st thing we see is the ocean before you and you can feel the fair wind coming down from the West Maui Mountains.
Maui Sands – 5F
This large two bedroom one bath oceanfront condo has a view that is nothing short of spectacular! The lanai runs the length of the condo and directly faces the water. It’s as close as you will find to the shore any where on Maui!
Maui Sands – 6H
This recently upgraded, spacious and clean one bed/one bath condo was designed for comfort! A large glass slider door to the lanai expands the living room length and adds an open-air feel to the unit that provides an ocean and garden view.
