Hui No’eau, Beginning Hawaiian Quilting – Friday, Sept. 27, 2024
The Hui welcomes Art with Aloha Visiting Artist, Kathy Tsark from Oahu. Kathy has over 45 years as a Hawaiian Quilt artist and introduces students to making a Hawaiian Quilt Pillow (20”). Techniques such as cutting the design, layout, basting, and applique stitching will be covered.
Friday (at the Hui), in the first class students will learn cutting, basting, and applique and will spend the rest of their day finishing the applique which needs to be completed before the second day. Students can also finish up their work at home before the second day of class. Saturday, (FROM HOME): Saturday, students will from home to finish their applique Sunday (at the Hui), in the second class and once the student finishes the applique, Kathy will demo making a quilt “sandwich” and how to quilt it in a hoop and how to mark and use a thimble. Students will spend the rest of the second class quilting and finishing their quilt pillow.

BAMP Project & Maui Arts & Cultural Center presents Chicago with special guest Henry Kapono performing live at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center A&B Amphitheater on Friday, September 27, 2024. This show welcomes all ages. Hailed as one of the “most important bands in music since the dawn of the rock and roll era, the legendary rock and roll band with horns, Chicago, came in as the highest charting American band in Billboard Magazine’s Top 125 Artists Of All Time. Chicago is the first American rock band to chart Top 40 albums in six consecutive decades.

The 20th Annual Lahaina Town Cleanup in conjunction with the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup and Malama Maui Nui’s “Get the Drift and Bag It!” campaign is an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to join in a global effort to remove litter and debris from our coastal environment.
Cleanup: From Olowalu to Napili from the beach to the Highway and up Lahainaluna Road * no burn zone admittance

Maui Walking Tours, Wailuku Historic Walking Tour – Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024
Join Maui Walking Tours LLC on a historic Walking Tour through Wailuku. Learn about the importance of this region originally referred to as Na Wai Eha and dating back over 1000 years. Hear stories of when missionaries first arrived in the 1820s, the plantation boom, the rise of Wailuku as the island’s business/government center and source of culture and entertainment. We’ll even stop by a location featured on the SyFy channel for its paranormal activity! During the walk, you will stop at close to a dozen street murals that help to further tell the story of Wailuku’s past.
