Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, Imu Building Workshop – Friday, August 2, 2024
This two-day, in-depth workshop will teach many aspects and benefits of cooking in an imu (traditional Hawaiian underground oven). Hands-on instruction will include planning, building, and cooking from an imu. Imu cooking is a healthy and delicious method of food preparation that perpetuates Hawaiian culture and sustainability. Participants will get to include a pan of food to cook in the imu. NOTE: This is a two-day workshop and attendees must be able to attend both days.
Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge, Native Pollinator Garden Volunteer – Friday, August 2, 2024
Volunteer on Friday, August 2nd from 9-11AM at Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge! Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge provides foraging and nesting opportunities for various endangered and endemic bird species. Also located within the Refuge is a Native Pollinator Garden. Visitors are invited to learn about native Hawaiian pollinators and their host plants. We are seeking volunteers to assist in enhancing the visitor experience of the garden. Visitors will be responsible for trimming back plants, removing debris, basic trail maintenance, and more. Knowledge of basic gardening and interest in being outdoors is required. Volunteers will be provided gloves and hand tools.

Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua, Anuhea – Friday, August 2, 2024
The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua is pleased to welcome Anuhea for a special performance on Friday, August 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fresh off her summer tour, Anuhea returns to the Valley Isle and The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua to mark the 15th anniversary of her performing career.
She will headline the resort’s Kapalua Concert Series at Alaloa Lounge, located in the lobby overlooking Kapalua and Honokahua Bay. Admission is free and open to the public, with food and beverage available for purchase.

Haleakalā National Park, Plant Nursery Volunteer – Tuesday, August 6, 2024
Join the Friends of Haleakalā National Park on August 6th for a service activity at the national park’s plant nursery in the Summit District of Haleakalā National Park, 9:00 am to noon. Participants will help care for rare, endemic plants being propagated, and some volunteers may also help catalog and organize materials in the park’s adjacent museum. Participants should bring water, snacks, and their own gloves if desired. The park will provide other tools. Wear sturdy shoes, and in case of out planting work, bring a hat and sunscreen. Volunteers can drive up to the work location at the greenhouse and will not be charged an entrance fee. Reservations are required. Mulligans On The Blue, Uncle Benny Uyetake’s Kanikapila – Wednesday, August 7, 2024
Maui’s musical treasure, Uncle Benny Uyetake is bringing his re-imagined Kanikapila back to Wailea on August 7th with his special guest Kevin Brown Kanikapila, gathering together to play music, has been a well-loved traditional Hawaiian pastime and you never know who else will show up and Kanikapila. It’s these types of impromptu jam sessions that create rare and memorable nights on the island. Click now to get your table!
Uncle Benny has shared the stage with some of the world’s finest musicians like Hawai’i’s trailblazers Uncle Willie K and Barry Flannagan of HAPA, as well as the world’s most talented jazz players Les McCann, Russel Malone, and Donald Harrison. Kevin Brown has played Hawaiian Slack Key music for over 50 years. In the early 1970’s he played Hawaiian music with the popular group, Waiehu Sons. In 1991, he and his son Ikaika continued on the music circuit as a father-son duo. Together they released numerous CDs, earning Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards and Grammy nominations. In 2020 Kevin and Ikaika were honored as the first ever father and son to be given the Nā Hōkū Hanohano, Slack Key (Kī Hō’alu) Legacy Award.
