The 2024 Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival is taking place on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 10 AM to 5 PM Centerstage at the Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center. Plan to enjoy free keiki activities, workshops, Hawaii made artisans and hula accompanied by beautiful Hawaiian music.
This year, the ‘Ohana Farden will be paying tribute to the esteemed Lahaina Kumu Hula, Carolee “Aunty Doll” Aricayos of Ka Pa Hula O Maui. Join us at the centerstage of Queen Ka’ahumanu Center at 12:30pm to celebrate her remarkable legacy.

Maui Huliau Foundation, Huliau Food & Film Festival – Saturday, August 17, 2024
The Huliau Food & Film Festival is a farm-to-table celebration of local agriculture featuring local chefs and student-produced films. This year’s event will be outdoors at Sugar Beach Event’s beautiful oceanfront venue in north Kīhei on Saturday, August 17th. The event will feature student films and a five-course meal featuring farm-to-table dishes prepared by local chefs. Sugar Beach Events will run a cash bar featuring locally produced cocktails, beer, and wine.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Maui Huliau Foundation’s youth programs, which focus on filmmaking, leadership, zero waste, climate change, ʻāina-based education, careers in conservation, and more. Funds will also help support the Kūkulu Pilina (“building connections”) program which works to assist schools in building connections with community partners who can support their educational efforts, and to facilitate more off-campus ʻāina-based experiences for teachers and students. This past school year, they have significantly expanded on our efforts to support teachers and students, especially at Lāhaināluna and the upcountry schools, helping foster a positive learning environment for students.
ProArts Playhouse, Maui Songwriters Rounds – Sunday, August 18, 2024
Sunday, August 18th, 7pm at ProArts Playhouse, join four of Maui’s Most talented songwriters for the Maui Songwriters Rounds. Artists in the Round share the stories and lives behind the music. This round will feature Mailani (of Keahiwai), Rabbitt, Aaron & Stina from Rowdy Love, and Wes Furumoto.
